Bike Walk RVA is Sports Backers’ program to advocate for comfortable and connected places to bike and walk for people of all ages and abilities. From signature, regional projects like the transformational Fall Line trail to neighborhood traffic calming and an expanding network of connected, protected bike lanes, our mission is to get more people biking and walking through developing advocate leaders who focus on changing our built environment to make active transportation desirable for anyone.

The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Engagement (OIRE) strengthens connections between Richmond’s immigrant communities and City services. We provide information, resources, and advocacy to ensure equitable access and meaningful engagement for all residents. The Ginter Park Residents Association (GPRA) is a volunteer civic association organized to serve all individuals residing within the Ginter Park Residents Association boundaries, including Laburnum Park and Ginter Park. GPRA is an inclusive organization designed to promote and foster a healthy, open, and welcoming community.

Conceived in 2000 by a handful of neighbors in an effort to create community greenspace in Union Hill, Jefferson Avenue Community garden has been in continuous operation since October 2003. The garden now flourishes as gathering spot in the heart of the East End, providing a place for residents to grow their own flowers and produce as well as serving as a refuge for pollinators and wildlife in the heart of the city’s East End.

PlanRVA, established in 1969 following adoption of the Regional Cooperation Act by the VA General Assembly, is the convener, planner, and shaper of Central Virginia’s future. 

Guided by our member local governments, we facilitate the Richmond region’s physical, social, and economic development. We do this through:
> holistic and coordinated planning and regional projects
> strategic partnerships and collaboration
> technical support and reliable data

PlanRVA manages regional programs and initiatives in the areas of community development, emergency management, the environment, and transportation.

We actively engage representatives from government, the private and nonprofit sectors, civic and community organizations, and the public to address critical regional issues.

The Richmond Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer-based program trains citizens to prepare for and respond to emergencies in your community. The City of Richmond is a component of the national Citizen Corps Program, which aims to make communities safer, stronger and better prepared through education, training and volunteer service. On the local level, the City of Richmond CERT program maintains the City’s commitment to safe communities. Training is free.

We are the chamber of commerce that enriches, uplifts, and connects all members of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies in Central Virginia.

At the Peace Center, we dedicate our efforts to creating and protecting affirming spaces that embrace cultural humility and create ties of respect that connect people of every age, culture, race, class, region, religion, gender, and sexual identity in our work to build an inclusive community. 

The Peace Center advocates for nonviolence, which is an unflinching commitment to show love and kindness in response to conflict rather than abstaining from or avoiding conflict out of fear. We see nonviolence as a powerful tool to resist social inequalities, oppose oppression, and achieve sustainable peace for all people.

The Rotary Club of Church Hill is not your normal Rotary Club. We are young, hands-on, and innovative. We use technology and community resources to help us take action quickly. 

Founded in 1984, The Rotary Club of Western Henrico County meets every Tuesday morning and is nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.  As an expectation of being a member of our club, each Rotarian is asked to participate in our meetings, service projects, and fundraisers.  There is an opportunity for each member to choose how his/her skills fit within a wide variety of club activities. 

Richmond VA’s Participatory Budgeting is a process that allows residents to have a say in how a part of the city’s budget is spent. Giving you a chance to brainstorm ideas, develop proposals, vote on projects, and make a difference in our community.
