About Social Connectory

The goal is simple: make it easier for people to meet, participate, and to feel included in something meaningful.

Social Connectory is a community-driven website that helps people find real-world connection through local social clubs, groups, and gatherings. It serves as a central hub where neighbors, newcomers, and anyone seeking belonging can easily explore activities happening in their local area — from book clubs and walking groups to social meetups and community potlucks.

Built on the belief that CONNECTION strengthens communities, Social Connectory is free for both users and listings (i.e. clubs). There are NO expectations for social clubs or users to join an additional platform. We are meeting them where they are so the community can easily access no matter what platform they choose — Facebook, Instagram, MeetUp, website, etc.

Social Connectory launches first in Richmond, Virginia, with a model designed to grow from city to city.

To Our Early "Believers"

We see you and we thank you. You are Believers because you saw the potential in Social Connectory before it existed as a website, before there was proof it would work, and before it was easy to say yes. Because of you, this idea moved from hope to action. Your faith made it possible to build and launch our prototype website, and more importantly, it reminded us that people truly want meaningful, real-world connection. We carry your belief with us as we grow, and we are so grateful you chose to stand with us at the very beginning.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does Social Connectory work and what makes it different?

Social Connectory is a central “dashboard” of social clubs (from potluck groups to knitting circles), orgs that need volunteers, event calendars linked from local publications, links to local makers, and more. Nothing like it currently exists. We actively manage the directory — it’s checked frequently for anything that is no longer active. Users can also submit suggestions through our feedback form. We’ve compiled the most comprehensive list to connect you with others who share your interests.

Doesn’t MeetUp.com do what Social Connectory is trying to accomplish?

No. While MeetUp is a good platform, not all social clubs post there. There’s cost associated with using that platform and group leaders have to manage the activity. Many social clubs don’t have the time or inclination for all that. Sometimes the club just wants to post on social media. Many small social clubs don’t even host their own website. We meet them where they are.

How much does it cost to be listed or search the directory?

Social Connectory is FREE! We are striving to make a difference, not a profit. It is absolutely free to have your group or org listed and free to search the directory.

Which clubs or organizations can be listed?

Any social club or organization that fosters positive connection can be listed.

Who is Social Connectory for?

Social Connectory is for ANYONE and EVERYONE — any age group — who is looking for a social group to join, looking to make new friends, looking to learn something new, looking to get more involved in the community, looking for events, or looking for volunteer opportunities.

Resources & Inspiration

These are a few of our favorite things.

Community Code of Conduct

Social Connectory is about real-world connection rooted in kindness, inclusion, and curiosity with the intent of creating community. These Code of Conduct standards guide everything we do.

Our Core Values:

Inclusivity: Everyone is welcome—regardless of race, gender, religion, orientation, or ability.

Respect: Treat others with dignity. No tolerance for harassment, hate, or discrimination.

Connection: Our goal is to build bridges, not barriers. We promote social clubs that uplift and inspire the spirit of community for all their members.

What We Don't Allow:
  • Social Clubs or events that exclude or discriminate against specific groups of people
  • Content that promotes hate speech, violence, or extremist ideology
  • Misleading or false information about a social club’s intent

If you see something that goes against these values, please report it. We review all concerns seriously and act swiftly.
